Artistic Journey & Philosophy

I grew up in a farming community on a kibbutz in Israel, spending lots of time in open fields, orange orchards, and pine forests. I developed a deep love and respect for flora and fauna — or as I say, what grows and what runs.

I am inspired by the enchanting beauty of the Old Masters; they give me the feeling of an ever-present harmony. For years I had painted figures, then seeing Caravaggio’s Basket of Fruit [1571–1610] with its rich, earthy colors was a turning point for me. I started painting fruit, presenting them realistically — not artificially perfect — but as if freshly picked from my garden.

I am a mindful observer of the passage of time and its effect on our surroundings. I find beauty in every stage of life, from young and fresh through to old and dry, capturing the cycle of changing seasons from one moment to another.

I paint life in its still state — to pause our fast-paced lives of constantly racing images and capture a peaceful moment in nature, creating a distinct mood. I am fascinated by light and shadow. Warm and earthy colors are my palette and the notes for my composition, using oil on canvas, wood panels, linen, or driftwood.

My recent work comprises closeups of organic subjects. I am currently fascinated with looking at flowers at close range, zooming in to explore their folds, depths, and intricate construction.
